Seabirds decorate this view of the Bass Rock, which is situated off the East Lothian coast.

This image is taken from John Slezer's Theatrum Scotiae, 1693. Theatrum Scotiae is an important record of Scottish towns, castles and palaces in the 17th century. For most of these places, it contains some of the earliest views that survive.

Theatrum Scotiae is held in the National Library of Scotland.
