Information
Ten postcards featuring images taken from The National Library of Scotland's exhibition called Images of Italy.
The exhibition explores how visual representations of Italy developed, ranging from 15th-century woodcuts to 19th-century photography. Early book illustrators usually presented a highly idealised, almost mythical, view of the country, while the invention of photography in the 19th century provided a new way to record Italy.
Produced with support from The Ruskin, Lancaster University.
